After Adam Peterson left the halls of Stanford University to pursue a career in finance, more specifically investment banking, he like many of us, came to the realization that his initial professional pursuit wasn't where his heart was at. His lightbulb moment came to him after being introduced to the recruitment arena, talking to experts in the field, and melding his thoughts on video and how the two could transcend recruiting as we know it today. His company Vipe isn't simply a "YouTube" portal where people can upload their videos. It is a medium that allows recruiters and corporations to save thousands of dollars and gain acute advantages over their competition.

Hi Gene,

Thanks for the comment! There are a growing number of companies using video in recruiting technology - however, they use it in many different forms. Bank of America, for example, has a couple videos on their careers page on their for recruiting purposes, however, they are not to my knowledge using it for screening.

Vipe has 2 companies at the F1000 level using us.

Best!

Hi John,

I believe that in every market where you have a buyer, seller, and middle person, over time efficiencies will develop and either the middle person embraces them, or gets left behind.

As such, I believe video will become an integral part of the delivery mechanism that recruiters utilize to help make hiring more efficient. For example, sending a short 30 second video to a hiring manager not only helps the hiring manager make a more effective decision, but also makes the recruiter appear differentiated by providing a productivity tool.

Thanks!
Adam

Adam, that was a great presentation. How do you deal with an argumentative, condescending hiring manager that has no idea what he is looking for, and is constantly contradicting himself?

Bret, I'm not sure how to answer that question. This is a people business and some people will always be difficult to work with. Can video help? Possibly - but this sounds more like a relationship issue.

Let me know if I am misunderstanding your question!

Thanks,
Adam

Can you provide any case studies or examples of ROI using this type of technology? Is this similar to the online interview technology that involves a two way interview that is recorded and stored for future reference?

Hi Kim,

We are young enough that it is difficult to provide industry wide ROI, however we have a number of anecdotal stories of our users making placements because of the Vipe video within the first two weeks of using our product. The percentage return on a permanent placement versus the cost of Vipe is so high it is almost unreasonable :) I would be happy to chat further about some of our stories if you would like.

The Vipe Platform Solution is very different from online interview technology. Rather than attempt to mimic an in person interview using technology (which can be valuable but often only in one-off cases), the Vipe videos are utilized to present an introduction to the ability for a candidate to present their professionalism, communication, energy, etc.

Does that answer your question?

Thanks!
Adam

This sounds like a great new tool for the recruiting world, anything that will help the business will be adopted over time.
