In my 30 years of 3rd party recruiting by far the best trainer I've heard isn't listed in the poll.......Steve Finkel.

Finkel always has the real pulse as to what's going on in recruiting in order to help people succeed--not just a motivational speaker.

Thanks for the post Bill. Do you know him personally?

You're welcome. I don't know Steve personally. I've corresponded with him via email and heard him speak no less than 6 times. He's the most real world intelligent articulate trainer telling you the way it is with no BS than anyone I've heard. As soon as we start to hit a down cycle Steve's all over it letting recruiters know what they need to do to survive/succeed. In good and normal times he forcefully drives home how to best succeed.

Look him up at SteveFinkel.com

I will check it out! Thanks Bill. So what type of Recruiting do you do?

Reply to This

I specialized in Information Technology within the Investment/Financial Services, Insurance, Banking, and Retail sectors from 1983-2003 till the accelerated Offshore Outsourcing and H1-B Insourcing in 2002 drove me out fighting against it for roughly a year.

Since Summer, 2003 my specialty has been Defense Contractor Engineering.

Thanks, Scott - this is great advice for every recruiter. Watching our egos in all of our business dealings is smart. It is easy to allow a client or a candidate to get under your skin when you feel that they aren't giving you the respect you deserv…

To become successful at anything you do, you must have a plan/system in place. Work, school, relationships, etc. I like the article. It is straight forward, concise and to the point. You hit the nail on the head! Great job!

Hey Scott, I agree with your 4 points - they all fall under the 'intangible' category and the intangible is typically the reason folks exit the industry and it's shame because there isn't a better and more rewarding industry out there (in my humble…
